CBI may consider narco-analytical test in Abu's case Sunday, November 13 2005 17:56 Hrs (IST) - World Time -
Mumbai:
The CBI, which is interrogating underworld don Abu Salem, may consider using narco-analytical or brain mapping tests to check veracity of the gangster's confessions, official sources said here today (Nov 13, 2005).
Talking to reporters, DIG (STF) of CBI O P Chatwal said, "the possibility can't be ruled out".
However, he added that such information has very little evidential value.
He also stressed that investigating agencies have enough evidence to prosecute Salem, without which it was not possible to get him extradited from Portugal.
"Don't worry about evidence," Chatwal said.
Earlier multi-crore stamp-scamster Abdul Karim Telgi, and model Preeti Jain, accused of conspiring to kill Bollywood director Madhur Bhandarkar, were subjected to narcoanalytical tests.
Also, Mumbai police are seeking permission to use similar tests on gangster-turned-MLA Arun Gawli in a recent extortion case against him.
