Uma Bharti meets RSS; MP CM issue may be resolved Monday, November 14 2005 17:05 Hrs (IST) - World Time -
Satna (MP):
Amidst tussle over the Chief Minister ship in Madhya Pradesh, fiery sanyasin Uma Bharti has met senior Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) leaders during a surprise visit here and claimed that the stalemate was likely to be resolved on November 18, when the MLAs will decide their leader.
Bharti, whose supporters have been revolting against Chief Minister Babulal Gaur, is believed to have discussed the leadership issue and sought support of RSS Regional General Secretary Shrikrishna Maheshwari and Regional Sangh-chalak Shankar Prasad Tamrakar during a two-hour-long closed-door meeting here last evening, sources said today (Nov 14, 2005).
"The situation will unfold on November 18, after the MLAs vote. It will be acceptable to all", Bharati told reporters, before leaving for Patna.
Bharti, who is a strong contender for the post, claimed that apart from Gaur and other leaders, state party president Shivraj Singh Chouhan was also in the race for the post.
"Among others, Gaur and Shivraj Singh Chouhan are in the race. I have the support of the MLAs. They are mine and I am theirs," she replied to a query.
Besides trying to enter the good books of RSS after her controversial letter to its chief accusing its functionaries on interfering in state Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) affairs, Bharti also offered prayers at a temple in Maihar near here, where she is believed to have held crucial meetings with her supporters to consolidate her base, sources said.
