Mumbai blasts: Dosa, Salem likely to be tried jointly Monday, November 14 2005 17:29 Hrs (IST) - World Time -
Mumbai:
The CBI is likely to try 1993 Mumbai serial bomb blast case accused Mustafa Dosa and extradited gangster Abu Salem together, agency sources said today (Nov 14, 2005).
The trial of rest of the arrested accused, that includes actor Sanjay Dutt, was already in an advanced stage and the judgement was likely to be delivered in a month's time, the sources said adding hence it will not (not) be possible to try Dosa and Salem along with them.
"We might file supplementary chargesheets against the two separately and request for their trial jointly," CBI sources interrogating Salem told sources here.
Dosa, who is also charged with conspiracy in the serial bomb blast case, was extradited late last year from Dubai following the efforts of CBI and the Mumbai police.
CBI sources said that evidences collected during the interrogation of Dosa and Salem against other accused in the blast case would not be of any use since the trial was over.
"However, any evidences that are collected against the two will be used in the trial against them," the sources said.
Mustafa Dosa is brother of prime accused in the blast case, Mohammed Dosa, and is alleged to be present at the Dubai meetings in which the blast conspiracy was allegedly hatched.
Mohammed Dosa, the right hand of fugitive don Dawood Ibrahim, is alleged to have hatched the conspiracy along with absconding accused Tiger Memom, the sources said.
