TADA Court directs CBI not to publicize blasts Monday, November 14 2005 20:03 Hrs (IST) - World Time -
Mumbai:
The Special TADA court today (Nov 14, 2005) directed the CBI to not to give publicity to the information related to investigations being carried out in the 1993 Mumbai serial bomb blast.
Hearing an application moved by the defense on objecting to the CBI disclosing the information to the media, TADA (P) Judge P D Kode observed that there was nothing wrong in the society knowing the information related to investigation after it was furnished before the court conducting the trial in the case.
Lawyer of underworld don Abu Salem, who was extradited on November 11 and is being interrogated by CBI in the 1993 bomb blast case, Ashok Sarogi pointed out that investigation agency was reportedly found quoted by the media for information on
on-going probe of Salem while prosecution's lawyer C S Sharma denied disclosing any information to the media by the investigating agency.
The court said that CBI should not disclose any information to anybody else other than the court.
After being pointed out that the agency had to furnish the information to Ministry or Parliament on demand, the court directed the investigating agency to not to give publicity to the investigations.
