Bihar Chief Secretary and State Police Chief had to face angry protest by policemen over the suspension of Jehanabad Superintendent of Police in the wake of Sunday night's Naxalite attack here when they arrived to take stock of the situation.
Thirty odd policemen surrounded Chief Secretary G S Kang, Home Secretary H C Sirohi and DGP A R Sinha when they went to police lines, one of the targets of Naxal onslaught which was saved.
Angry policemen shouted slogans against the DGP and Chief Secretary for the suspension of SP Sunil Kumar, who they described as a courageous and efficient officer.
The top Government officials were shown black flags by angry relatives of the inmates of sub-jail who were either killed or had gone missing.
Chief Secretary wapas jaao DGP wapas jaao (Chief Secretary go back and DGP go back) chanted the crowd demanding immediate recovery of their kin.
They also demanded adequate compensation to the families of those killed and government jobs for at least one of their dependents.
Meanwhile, the suspended SP, Sunil Kumar said some people were spreading canard that he was not in Jehanabad at the time of Naxal operation.
''I was very much here and led the police operation against the extremists which forced them to retreat,'' he said.
