Two naxalites were today (Nov 15, 2005) killed in an encounter with police in Jharkhand's Hazaribag district today, a senior official said.
Deputy Inspector General of Police Niraj Sinha told PTI that one body had been recovered while the police were trailing blood spots to trace the other.ts.
Ever since the November 11 attack on Homeguard Training Centre in Giridih followed by the daring 'jail-break operation' in Jehanabad, both by the CPI (Maoist), Jharkhand has been on a high alert with security being beefed up at all police lines and possible escape routes.
Superintendent of Police Praveen Singh, who is leading the raids in the niri Forests under Kerdari police station, said the naxalites would have carried away the body.
He also said one suspected naxalite had been nabbed during the raids.
Additional Superintendent of Police Upendra Kumar, who is heading another raid in the areas under Bishnugarh police station, said an encounter took place with the ultras there too. But there was no report of any casualty.
The Jharkhand police have stepped up raids against the Maoists in several points in the contiguous parts of the Jharkhand-Bihar border.
