The dedicated Lok Sabha satellite channel is going to be a round-the-clock very soon, Lok Sabha Speaker Somnath Chatterjee said here today (Nov 15, 2005).
Inaugurating the 70th conference of Presiding Officers of Legislative bodies in India at Chhattisgarh Assembly, he said the round-the-clock satellite channel will be run by the Lok Sabha secretariat.
"Necessary arrangements are being made, both at the policy and operational levels and it is expected to be fully operational by the budget session 2006," Chatterjee said.
Two separate dedicated satellite channel were launched on December 14, 2004 for the nationwide live telecast of the nentire proceedings of the Rajya Sabha and the Lok Sabha.
The Lok Sabha speaker also informed the conference that the Planning Commission and the Union Finance Ministry had been approached to meet the expenditure required for setting up infrastructure facilities for the live telecast of the proceedings of the legislatures as per the recommendations of the committee of presiding officers of legislature bodies on telecasting of the proceedings of legislatures.
