Actress Kushboo withdraws anticipatory bail plea
Wednesday, November 16 2005 16:27 Hrs (IST) - World Time -

Chennai: Actress Kushboo, who is at the centre of a controversy for her remarks on pre-marital sex, today (Nov 16, 2005) withdrew her anticipatory bail pending before the Madras High Court.

Justice S Sardar Zakharia Hussain of the Madras High Court, who reserved orders on her bail application yesterday, dismissed the petition "as withdrawn" following her counsel's plea to withdraw the petition as the actress had decided to surrender before a magistrate at Mettur.

Earlier, her counsel sought the permission of the court to withdraw the petition.

Kushboo moved the court following the issue of a non-bailable warrant (NBW) against her by a Magistrate at Mettur on November 11 last for her failure to appear in court in connection with a defamation suit filed against her for her remarks.

When the suit came up for hearing on November 11, the actress was not present and her advocate filed a petition seeking to dispense with her presence citing inclement weather and some prior engagements as the reasons.
