Salem's probe: Court issues notice to I&B Secretary

Mumbai: A special court today (Nov 16, 2005) issued notice to Union Information of Broadcasting Secretary asking him to file replies to the plea of the extradited underworld don Abu Salem for a ban on media publishing or telecasting reports about investigation relating to him and his girl friend Monica Bedi.

The notice issued by designated TADA judge P D Kode, who heard a petition filed by Salem's lawyer Ashok Sarogi and O A Siddique.

The court also asked Salem's lawyer to serve the notice, which is returnable on November 21.

Similar notices have been issued to the state of Maharashtra through CBI.
