New wage board for journalists recommended: Reddy

New Delhi: The Labor Ministry has been asked to set up a new wage board for newspaper and news agency employees, Information and Broadcasting Minister S Jaipal Reddy said today (Nov 16, 2005).

"We have recommended setting up of a new wage board to the Labor Ministry," Reddy said, speaking at the Economic Editors Conference here.

The Minister said he was 'positive' that the Labor Ministry 'will take a favorable view of this'.

The last wage revision for journalists was done as per the R K Manisana Singh Wage board in April 1998.

The Minister said he was ready to redress the grievances of journalists, who were not being paid as per the Manisana Wage board recommendations.
