Ex-MP files complaint appeal against Laloo, Rabri
Thursday, November 17 2005 19:22 Hrs (IST) - World Time -

Patna: Former member of Parliament Ram Avdhesh Singh has filed a complaint petition against Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) President Laloo Prasad and his wife and former Bihar Chief Minister Rabri Devi in the court of Chief Judicial Magistrate (CJM) here charging them with misleading the people and violating the model code of conduct.

Spotlight: Bihar Elections

Singh, in his petition filed yesterday, has charged that Prasad and his wife through an advertisement published in a local Hindi daily claimed that they were instrumental in ensuring reservation to Extremely Backward Classes (EBCS) in government jobs.

Dubbing their claim as 'false', the petition said while the notification for reservation to EBCS in government jobs was issued on November 10, 1978 during the regime of late Karpoori Thakur, Lalu became the Chief Minister of Bihar on March 10, 1990.

The petition charged that getting a false advertisement published for electoral benefits amounted to violation of the model code of conduct.

The matter will come up for hearing tomorrow.
