Bhopal:
A local court has issued a production warrant against underworld don Abu Salem's companion Monica Bedi in a fake passport case here, Superintendent of Police A K Singh said today (Nov 18, 2005).
"A team led by a Deputy Superintendent of Police has left for Hyderabad after a local court yesterday ordered production of Bedi in the fake passport case," Singh said here.
The court has ordered production of the former Bollywood starlet on November 26, he added.
Monica, who was extradicted with Salem from Portugal by CBI on November 11, was accused of procuring a forged passport from the state capital in 2001, they said.
A chargesheet was produced before the court against Salem and Monica in 2002, following which a permanent arrest warrant was issued, Singh said, adding a local court had renewed the warrant on November 14.
"We had been in touch with CBI and seeking details of legal proceedings in Hyderabad so as to apply for the production warrant here," he said.
Salem, who had visited the state capital, had been instrumental in preparing the forged documents, sources said.
The duo was arrested on September 18, 2002 in Lisbon for travelling on fake passports to Portugal.
