Top BJP leaders discuss party's strategy in Parliament Saturday, November 19 2005 20:27 Hrs (IST) - World Time -
New Delhi:
Top BJP leaders, including Atal Bihari Vajpayee and L K Advani, held a meeting here today to give final touches to the party's strategy in Parliament during the upcoming Winter Session, particularly on crucial issues like IAEA meeting on Iran and volcker committee.
The leaders, including Leader of Opposition in Rajya Sabha Jaswant Singh and Deputy leader of Opposition in Lok Sabha V K Malhotra, met at the residence of Vajpayee for over an hour.
Emerging from the meeting, Jaswant Singh said they deliberated on the party's strategy in Parliament, particularly on various international issues of importance.
He refused to elaborate on the strategy. The main opposition party has threatened to "rock" Parliament on the Volcker Report during the upcoming session as it insists on resignation of Natwar Singh from the Union Cabinet and Sonia Gandhi as Chairperson of the National Advisory Committee over the findings of the UN Committee.
The party has indicated that the Opposition may not allow the former External Affairs Minister to make a statement on the issue as announced by him earlier because he was no more holding the portfolio.
The BJP has moved notices on over 40 issues to be discussed under Rule 193 and Rule 184, which provides for voting.
