Saran SP orders arrest of former RJD minister
Saturday, November 19 2005 14:00 Hrs (IST) - World Time -

Chapra: The police today (Nov 19, 2005) ordered immediate arrest of Chandrika Rai, Rashtriya Janata Party (RJD) candidate and a senior minister in the erstwhile Rabri Devi cabinet, on the charge of his involvement in distribution of money among voters at a village in Saran district of Bihar.

Saran superintendent of police Jagmohan told Sources that three persons, who were arrested while distributing money among the voters near Dariapur police station last evening, later confessed at the police station that they were doing so at the behest of Rai, the RJD candidate for Parsa assembly seat.

"Since Rai has also been named accused in the case, I ordered his arrest," the SP said.

A vehicle allegedly owned by Rai was also seized from the spot, he said.
