CBI raids in four states for supply of poor equipment

New Delhi: CBI today (Nov 21, 2005) began raids in four states, including the national capital, in connection with a case registered for supply of alleged substandard equipment to various hospitals.

The raids were being carried out in places, including Goa and Thiruvananthapuram, CBI sources said.

They said the case was registered in connection with a 'conspiracy' entered into by a technical committee comprising senior doctors with a pharmaceutical firm for supply of substandard leproscopic equipment at various hospitals, which resulted in loss of Rs 5 crore to the government.

The raids in the national capital were being carried out at the residence and official premises of one of the heads of department of Safadarjung hospital, house of former HoD of Lady Harding hospital and the office of the pharmaceutical company, the sources said.
