CPI-M criticises RSS chief Sudrashan's statement Monday, November 21 2005 18:16 Hrs (IST) - World Time -
Ranchi:
The Communist Party of India (CPI) Marxist (M) today (Nov 21,2005) described Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) chief K S Sudarsan's appeal to Hindus to increase population as an 'attempt to ruin the society' and said it amounted to coercive measure.
''All that they (the RSS) aim is to divide the society. They have been indulging in things that would lead the society to ruins,'' CPI-M politburo member S R Pillai told sources here.
Sudarsan had reportedly appealed to the Hindus to increase population to counter the growth of minorities.
Another politburo member and chairman of the Left Front in West Bengal, Biman Bose, present at the press conference, said CPI-M was against coercion in adopting family planning measures and RSS did not have any 'democratic approach' towards population.
CPI-M in-charge of Jharkhand affairs and politburo member Brinda Karat demanded that the BJP-led National Democratic Alliance (NDA) Government in Madhya Pradesh prosecute activists of Viswa Hindu Parishad and Bajrang Dal for their alleged attack on doctors during a family planning camp in that state some time back.
''Let the RSS come out before the law, identify the culprits and take action against them as they attacked the doctors at the camp where people had gone voluntarily,'' she
said adding her party was against any coercive measures vis-a-vis family planning, which was purely a voluntary matter.
