Crossover at Chakan-da-Bagh post on LoC delayed
Monday, November 21 2005 17:25 Hrs (IST) - World Time -

Jammu: Groups of anxious people stood stranded on either side of the Line of Control (LoC) at Chakan-da-bagh as the first scheduled crossover of people from the frontier post got delayed today (Nov 21, 2005) with officials on both sides awaiting the clearance list from their respective authorities.

"We are waiting for the signal from Pakistani side to allow our batch to proceed further, official sources said, adding, "We have also not received so far the clearance list of passengers coming from Pakistan occupied Kashmir."

Spotlight: Kashmir is NOT negotiable

A total of nine persons, including two residents of PoK, were supposed to cross the Chakan-da-bagh post on Poonch Rawalakote road to go to PoK, the sources said, adding that the departure was delayed as Pakistani authorities at the border said they had not so far received clearance of the list from their Foreign Ministry in Islamabad.

The scheduled crossover from the other side also got delayed due to non-availability of their clearance lists, they said, adding that about 20 people were waiting to crossover to the Indian side.

As part of their decision to provide succor to quake-affected divided families in Kashmir, India and Pakistan have opened five points along the LoC to allow movement of relief material and the people to meet their relatives. The Governments last week announced the dates for movement of people along the designated points subject to clearance from the respective sides.
