Tripura: Four killed, seven injured in NLFT ambush Monday, November 21 2005 19:42 Hrs (IST) - World Time -

Four persons, including three jawans of Border Security Force (BSF), were killed and seven others injured when suspected National Liberation Front of Tripura (NLFT) ultras ambushed a BSF border patrol at Raishyabari in state's Dhalai district today (Nov 21, 2005).
BSF jawans were patrolling the Indo-Bangla international border at Raishyabari, to provide protection to the workers of a construction company for border fencing work and guard the border, when the ultras fired at them at 8:30 am, Additional Director General (operations), S K Sud told Sources.
While three jawans were killed on the spot, eight persons were wounded in the firing by ultras who used automatic weapons, he said. A civilian, critically injured in the ambush, succumbed to injuries on way to hospital.
Three jawans and three civilians were among the injured.
The insurgents looted three automatic weapons, including a motor launcher from the site where the fencing was being done by NBCC.
The deceased were identified as Ram Babu (Habildar), Biswajit Sinha (jawan), N Narayanan (jawan) and Mukesh Roy (civilian).
The injured were identified as Rajesh Narayanan, Vrinda Prasad, Bishnu Prasad, Uttam Chakmar (driver), Nepal Das, Manikant Tripura and Meghbaran Tripura.
The ultras might have sneaked into the Chittagong Hill Tract of Bangladesh because the site of ambush is just 400 metre away from the border, the official said.
An additional BSF force went to spot from nearby camps and launched combing operation, the official said.
