PM congratulates Nitish; Assures Centre's support

New Delhi: Prime Minister Manmohan Singh today (Nov 22, 2005) called Chief Ministerial candidate Nitish Kumar and congratulated him on the Janata Dal-United (JD-U)-Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) combine's electoral victory in Bihar and assured him of the Centre's support to the state.

Addressing a press conference here alongwith National Democratic Alliance (NDA) convenor George Fernandes, Kumar also made it clear that he was against any politics of confrontation.

"The Prime Minister has congratulated me and assured Centre's full cooperation for Bihar under the new leadership," he said.
