'Uddhav Thackeray must resign for Uparkar's defeat' Tuesday, November 22 2005 11:58 Hrs (IST) - World Time -
Malwan:
Triumphant by his thumping victory in Malwan assembly by election, Maharashtra Revenue Minister and Congress candidate Narayan Rane today (Nov 22, 2005) said Shiv Sena executive president, Uddhav Thackeray should give up the party post owning moral responsibility of the Sena candidate Parshuram Uparkar's defeat.
"The Sena is finished in this region. It is not Uparkar who lost deposit; it is Uddhav Thackeray who has lost. Almost all Sena leaders came to campaign (here) but they still could not save forfeiture of the Sena candidate's deposit," Rane told reporters here.
Rane has attributed the credit of his win to party president Sonia Gandhi, the 10 Sena MLAs who sided with him after his expulsion from the saffron party and his workers in
the region.
Replying to a question, Rane said that the Sena MLAs with him would resign from the party stage-wise, but refused to elaborate further.
