Afghanistan President Hamid Karzai today (Nov 23, 2005) spoke to Prime Minister Manmohan Singh and assured that security of all Indians working in his country would be beefed up in the wake of the killing of M R Kutty by Taliban.
In a telephonic conversation shortly after the decapitated body of Kutty, a driver with the Border Road Organisation, was found in Delaram district five days after his abduction, Karzai expressed his condolences on the killing.
He assured Singh that security for all Indians in Afghanistan would strengthened, External Affairs Ministry spokesman Navtej Sarna told reporters.
During the conversation Karzai said that Afghanistan valued highly India's assistance in its reconstruction.
The Prime Minister thanked Karzai for the call and said that India's resolve to assist Afghanistan remained unshaken, Sarna said.
"President Karzai condemned the killing of Raman Kutty by the Taliban and assured the Prime Minister of the safety of all the Indians working in Afghanistan," PM's Media Adviser Sanjaya Baru said in a statement.
Singh thanked the President and said this incident would not come in the way of normal and friendly relations with Kabul.
