Cong demands CBI probe into IT-park under SEZ Wednesday, November 23 2005 12:04 Hrs (IST) - World Time -
Rajasthan:
Congress today (Nov 23,2005) demanded a CBI probe into the alleged financial corruption and flouting of Central Government rules by Rajasthan Government while sanctioning the Rs 2 billion IT-Park and Knowledge Corridor in the special economic zone here.
Congress party will submit a memorandum on the issue to Governor Pratibha Patil asking her to initiate an inquiry against Raje cabinet's decision taken with in the presence of only five out of 30 ministers, RPCC president B D Kalla said in a 'Meet the Press'.
Since the State Government did not take Centre's permission in setting up SEZ by giving 51 per cent share to Mahindra Gesco Developers on Jaipur-Ajmer highway by acquiring the 3000 acres of land at very low price from agriculturists, Congress would urge the United Progressive Alliance (UPA) Government not to accord it clearance, Kalla said.
Congress would also refer this matter to its legal cell to explore any judicial alternative, he said, adding Jaipur District Congress would start an agitation along with the affected farmers, Kalla said.
He said the SEZ was approved along the 'green belt', to a private player without any bidding, without seeking confidence of one-third of Raje cabinet ministers.
