NDA decides to move adjournment motion in Lok Sabha
Wednesday, November 23 2005 14:34 Hrs (IST) - World Time -

New Delhi: National Democratic Alliance (NDA) today (Nov 23, 2005) decided to move an adjournment motion in the Lok Sabha tomorrow (Nov 24, 2005) condemning the alleged receipt of money by Congress from CIA, KGB and from the Iraqi oil deals demanding registration of CBI case on the basis of the Volcker report.

The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP)-led alliance also decided to press for the resignation of Natwar Singh as Union Minister and Sonia Gandhi as Chairperson of National Advisory Council and block smooth transaction of business in both Houses if the motion was not accepted, BJP Parliamentary Party spokesman Vijay Kumar Malhotra told reporters after a meeting of senior NDA leaders, Chaired by former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee.

"We will demand an adjournment motion condemning the sale of the country by the Congress party as substantiated by the Moynihan report, the Mitrokhin archives and the Volcker Committee report," he said after the 30-minute long meeting.

In the Rajya Sabha, the NDA would move a notice under Rule 167 seeking a debate on the issue.

Indicating that the alliance would not allow smooth functioning of both Houses, he said, "We are demanding only an open debate and we will press for it till the Government accepts our demand."

The NDA meeting was attended among others by Leader of Opposition L K Advani, NDA convenor George Fernandes, senior BJP leaders Jaswant Singh and Sushma Swaraj besides leaders of various NDA constituents.

Earlier, addressing the BJP Parliamentary Party meeting, Advani referred to the Mitrokhin Archives and the Volcker Report and asked the members to effectively voice their concern over the influence of foreign interests on political parties.

He also expressed serious concern over the 'deteriorating' internal security situation, particularly the bomb blasts in Delhi and Srinagar.

Several Members stressed on the need to vociferously raise the demand for Natwar Singh's resignation from the Union Cabinet.

Bihar's would-be Chief Minister Nitish Kumar and NDA Convener George Fernandes were also felicitated on the occasion for the combine's sweep in the Assembly polls.
