Extradited gangster Abu Salem was today (Nov 23, 2005) remanded to judicial custody in the 1993 Mumbai bomb blast case till December seven after CBI told the special TADA court that they do not need his custody for the time being.
The TADA court ordered that he may be kept in Central prison at Arthur Road after taking due security precaution.
Salem was in CBI custody after his arrest on November 11 in the serial bomb blast case.
This is for the first time he has been remanded to judicial custody.
Meanwhile, Mumbai police has sought production warrant for Salem in Pradeep Jain murder case. As per the warrant, he would be produced before TADA Judge Bavkar today itself.
Earlier, CBI prosecutor Ujjwal Nikam said that Salem's custody was not rpt not needed for the time being as he has made a confession.
However, the investigating agency would seek permission of the court whenever it needs his custody, he added.
