Breach on track disrupts chennai rail traffic services Thursday, November 24 2005 12:29 Hrs (IST) - World Time -

Rail traffic between Tiruchirappalli and Chennai on the Chord Line has been disrupted since the wee hours of today (Nov 24,2005) following a breach on the track between Kattur and Pullampadi, about 50 km from here, in the wake of incessant rains.
The breach was noticed around 1.05 a.m by a night patrol team who informed nearby station, Tiruchirappalli Divisional Railway officials here said today.
Several Chennai bound trains had been detained at various nearby stations, they said.
The stranded passengers could not be sent by road as there were breaches on roads in Cuddalore district, they said.
Consequently, the Madurai-Chennai Vaigai Express and Tiruchirappalli-Chennai Pallavan Express and Chennai-Guruvayur Express trains had been cancelled for today (Nov 23, 2005).
The trains detained are: Thiruvananthapuram-Chennai Ananthapuri Express, Madurai-Chennai Pandiyan Express, Tiruchirappalli-Chennai Rockfort Express and Chennai-Tenkasi Express.
However, Chennai-bound trains from the south had not been affected as they had crossed the place well before the breach occurred.
