Senior Janata Dal (JD) United (U) leader Nitish Kumar was today (Nov 24, 2005) sworn-in as the 33rd chief minister of Bihar.
Kumar was administered the oath of office and secrecy by Governor Buta Singh at a function at the historic Gandhi Maidan here.
State Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) President Sushil Kumar Modi was sworn-in as
deputy chief minister of the JD(U) BJP coalition Government.
A host of National Democratic Alliance (NDA) stars including former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee, BJP President L K Advani, Akali Dal chief Prakash Singh Badal, former Jammu and Kashmir chief minister, Farooq Abdullah, JD(U) parliamentaer board chairman Sharad Yadav, firebrand BJP leader Uma Bharti, BJP Vice-President Venkiah Naidu and former union minister Syed Shahnawaz Hussain were present on the occasion.
