Tariq Ahmed Dar denies his role in serial blasts Friday, November 25 2005 19:19 Hrs (IST) - World Time -
New Delhi:
Lashkar-e-Toiba militant Tariq Ahmed Dar, arrested in connection with the serial blasts here, today (Nov 25, 2005) confessed in court that he had made a telephone call denying that the outfit had carried out the explosions but claimed he himself had no role.
"I swear by God I played no role (in the blasts). My only guilt is that it was I who issued the message denying Lashker's role in the blasts," Dar told the court of Additional Chief Metropolitan Magistrate Madhu Jain when he was produced for extension of remand.
Dar had allegedly called up the Kashmir News Agency on October 30, a day after the blasts killed 60 people and injured more than 200 in Delhi.
Police had claimed that he was one of the main conspirators and had arranged money for the bombers.
Dar told the court that a friend of his, associated with Lashker, had given him a cell phone and asked him to make the call.
His police custody was extended till December eight.
