20 injured in train collision at Panskura station Friday, November 25 2005 12:26 Hrs (IST) - World Time -

Around 20 railway passengers were injured when 8006 down Sambal-Howrah Express 'slightly dashed' against rear of a Kharagpur-Howrah local at Panskura station in East Midnapore district at around 8.40 am today (Nov 25, 2005).
Most of the injured were passengers of the local train, whose vendor and a passenger coach were derailed under the impact of the collision, South Eastern Railway chief public relations officer Debashish Chandra said.
Prima facie the incident was caused due to failure in the auto signalling system, Railway sources said.
Senior railway officials, including divisional railway manager rushed with a relief train to accommodate the stranded passengers.
Train services on both up and down sections are suspended since the incident, the sources said.
