PCG to take up ULFA cadre issue during talks Sunday, November 27 2005 18:05 Hrs (IST) - World Time -
Guwahati:
The issue of 'missing' United Liberation front of Assam (ULFA) cadres will be taken up by the People's Consultative Group (PCG) during its second round of talks with the Center, scheduled for next month.
The PCG, nominated by the ULFA to hold talks with the Center, would also take up other matters with the sole aim of bringing the ULFA to the negotiating table, PCG member Lachit Bordoloi told sources today (Nov 27,2005).
At least 18 ULFA men were 'missing' since the Bhutanese offensive against the outfit in 2003 last and the wives of the missing ULFA leaders had urged the Centre to provide
information about their husbands, PCG sources said.
The PCG had also voiced their desire to visit the jails of the Himalayan kingdom where they believe the ultras might have been kept.
The PCG which held a meeting last night discussed the agenda for the next round of talks with the Center and reviewed the outcome of the first round of discussion with Prime Minister Dr Manmohan Singh held on October 26 last in New Delhi, Bordoloi said.
