Adhir's bail plea rejected, JC extended by 10 days
Monday, November 28 2005 18:36 Hrs (IST) - World Time -

Baharmpur(WB): The judicial remand of Congress MP Adhir Chowdhury was extended by 10 days by a district court which rejected his bail petition in connection with a double murder case.

Unprecedented security arrangements were made in entire Baharampur town as a posse of policemen were deployed to bring Chowdhury from Baharampur Central jail with armed escorts.

Due to a lawyers strike in the court, the MP himself moved his bail petition, which was rejected by the chief judicial magistrate A K Pal.

Chowdhury will be produced for further hearing on December 8.

The MP was remanded to eight day's judicial custody by the court on November 20 last for the alleged killing of a restaurant owner and his son in his Behrampore parliamentary constituency last July.
