Chauhan stranded as bomb scare hits Shatabdi Express Monday, November 28 2005 16:33 Hrs (IST) - World Time -
Jhansi:
A bomb scare today (Nov 28, 2005) left Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister-designate, Shivraj Singh Chauhan, stranded here for about 45 minutes along with other passengers on board the Bhopal Shatabdi Express from Delhi.
According to DIG Jhansi Range, Devendra Singh Chauhan, the Railway Control room here received an anonymous call from Delhi stating that a bomb was planted in the train.
Search operations were immediately conducted by bomb squads and sniffer dogs called to trace any suspicious object.
"Senior police, railway and administrative officials rushed to the spot to oversee the search operations," he said, adding, "The CM-designate had been informed about the call."
However, the call turned out to be a hoax as nothing was found. The train resumed its onward journey after the search,
Divisional Railway Manager (Jhansi) V K Singh told sources.
Chauhan, who has been named as the new Chief Minister of Madhya Pradesh, was on his way to Bhopal where he is expected to be formally elected as the leader of Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) legislature party this evening (Nov 28, 2005).
