New Delhi: Prime Minister Manmohan Singh today (Nov 28,2005) sanctioned Rs 500 crore for taking up immediate relief works in flood-affected areas of Tamil Nadu.

An official release here said the amount has been sanctioned pending finalisation of the total relief package by central teams sent to assess the damage in 15 districts of the state, which experienced torrential rains in October-November.

One central team, which had gone to assess the damage caused by floods in October, has already submitted its report and the same is being processed.

Another team is being sent to assess the damage caused by heavy rains in the third week of November.
