Pondicherry: The trial in the Sankararaman murder case, in which Kanchi Seer Jayendra Saraswathi and his junior Vijayendra Saraswathi are the main accused, was adjourned to December 12 by a sessions court here today (Nov 28, 2005).

When the case, transferred from a Chengalpattu sessions court to a court here on October 26 by the Supreme Court, came up for hearing, Principal District and Sessions Judge M Chinnapandi adjourned it to December 12.

The case was transferred to the Pondicherry court on a petition filed by the Seer, who apprehended that he may not get a fair trial if it is held in Tamil Nadu.

All the 24 accused, including the two Seers, were present in court. Raghu, younger brother of the junior seer and mutt manager Sundaresa Iyer are also among the accused.

The case pertains to the September 3, 2004 murder of Sankararaman, Manager of the Varadaraja Perumal temple in Kancheepuram, in the temple premises.

Another accused Ravi Subramanian, a building contractor, has turned approver.
