POTA court stays verdict on bail plea of Raja Bhaiya Monday, November 28 2005 19:15 Hrs (IST) - World Time -

A designated POTA court today (Nov 28,2005) reserved its verdict on the bail plea of former Uttar Pradesh Minister Raghuraj Pratap Singh alias Raja Bhaiya who was
facing charges under the act in a case that was transferred from Kanpur following a Supreme Court order.
Special Judge R C Mishra, who reserved the verdict after hearing defense lawyers and prosecuting attorneys, from both Uttar Pradesh and Madhya Pradesh, is yet to announce the next dates of hearing.
Raja Bhaiya, who was brought from Pratapgarh district jail on November 26, was lodged in the central jail here till the next hearing on the case.
Meanwhile, Raja Bhaiya's cousin Akshay Pratap Singh, a co-accused in the POTA case, appeared before the Judge during the proceedings.
His father, Uday Singh, had cited health reasons during the last hearing, to express inability to abide by court directive seeking his appearance, following which the judge
had sought his medical certificates to support his claims.
As per the Supreme Court directives, records relating tothe case were transferred to Madhya Pradesh from the Kanpur POTA court, where Raja Bhaiya's defence lawyers had applied for bail on November 14.
Raja Bhaiya had resigned from the ministry on November 10 and surrendered before the designated POTA court in Kanpur on November 14 after the Supreme Court quashed the state government order withdrawing POTA charges against him.
