The President, Dr A P J Abdul Kalam will undertake an aerial survey of the worst flood-affected areas of Cuddalore district of Tamil Nadu on December 1, even while assuring all support from the Central government in the 'hour of extreme distress' caused by the floods.
He indicated this when he telephoned Chief Minister Jayalalithaa this morning to enquire about the flood situation, an official press release said.
Conveying his profound sympathy for the large loss of lives and huge destruction to property and crops in the floods, which struck the state for the third time in a row in a short span of time, the President said he would also be making a tour of the state on that day.
Welcoming his visit and the assurance of support from the President, the Chief Minister told Dr Kalam that she would make a detailed presentation to him on the flood situation, the extent of damage caused to property and crops and the relief operations undertaken by her government, besides the assistance required to tackle the situation.
