Senior Janata Dal (United) MLA from Imamganj Udai Narain Chaudhary, is all set to be elected unopposed new speaker of the Bihar assembly with leaders of Opposition parties also proposing his name for the coveted post.
Accompanied by Chief Minister Nitish Kumar, Minister for Road Construction Department N K Yadav and Parliamentary Affairs Minister Ramashray Prasad Singh, Choudhary walked to the office of the assembly secretary Brij Kishore Singh
Prabhat and submitted seven sets of papers for the post.
RJD legislature party leader and former chief minister Rabri Devi, Energy Minister Vijendra Prasad Yadav (JD-U), Road Construction Minister N K Yadav, besides Maheshwar Singh (LJP), Rajendra Singh (CPI), Ramdeo Verma (CPI-M) and Awadhesh
Singh (Congress) proposed his name setting the stage for his election to the post.
Soon after completing the formalities for nomination, the chief minister along with Choudhary and N K Yadav posed for photographs at the cm's state assembly chamber.
Kumar announced that the post of Deputy Speaker would go to a member of the Opposition. The election of the Speaker is scheduled for November 30.
