Court adjourns Gawli bail plea hearing till Dec 2
Thursday, December 1 2005 14:38 Hrs (IST) - World Time -

Mumbai: A local court today (Dec 1, 2005) adjourned till tomorrow the hearing on the anticipatory bail of gangster-turned-politician Arun Gawli, in an extortion case.

Hearing Gawli's application, Sessions Judge Abhay Thipsay asked the police to file its reply on the application.

Earlier, the Principal Sessions Court had rejected police plea that hearing on anticipatory bail application of Gawli be transferred to another court.

Gawli, an MLA, had applied for an anticipatory bail after police registered an extortion case in which officials of Akhil Bharatiya Sena, his party, were named. However, when the matter came up for hearing on November 11, police stated that they could not comply with the order to produce complainants in the case before the court and wanted a stay on the hearing as they wanted the case to be transferred.
