HIV positive couple gets married on world AIDS day

Palakkad: Sending the message that AIDS need not come in the way of nuptial bliss, an HIV positive couple got married at Muthalamada near here on World AIDS Day today (Dec 1, 2005).

Asokan and Ajitha, who tested HIV positive some time back, got married at the venue arranged by 'Sneham Charitable Trust', about 20 km from here.

The 'tantri' of famous Guruvayur Sree Krishna temple, Chennas Dinesan Namboodiri, was the master of ceremony for the wedding, which was attended by social activists, writers and cultural leaders.

"The couple have been longing to get married for quite some time. Now their dream has come true. We are happy that we could help them to lead a happy life," Sneham Trust Chairman Sunildas told sources.

They had got betrothed at Thrissur on November 21 at the residence of eminent writer Dr Sukumar Azhikode.
