IOC to consider offering job to Manjunath's sibling Thursday, December 1 2005 18:41 Hrs (IST) - World Time -
New Delhi:
Indian Oil Corporation today (Dec 1, 2005) said it would consider giving a job to one of the siblings of S Manjunath, its employee who was killed by oil mafia in Uttar Pradesh last month.
IOC Chairman S Behuria, who handed over a cheque for Rs 30 lakh to Manjunath's father M Shanmugham, promised to consider the family's request for a job and an LPG
distributorship.
"Behuria promised to consider the request when he gets back to Delhi," a company spokesperson said here.
The company has already decided to give a monthly pension of Rs 10,000 to Manjunath's dependent, besides offering to takeover the education loan availed by him for his studies at IIM.
But Punjab National Bank, from where the loan was availed, has decided to write off Rs 1.73 lakh dues owed by Manjunath.
The bank has also decided to remit insurance claim of Rs 1.50 lakh to his family members after settlement by LIC, the bank said in a release.
Manjunath, an IIM graduate, was murdered on November 19 by oil-adulteration mafia in Uttar Pradesh while trying to curb their illegal activities.
