TN: Kalam undertakes aerial survey of rain-hit areas

Tiruchirappalli (TN): President A P J Abdul Kalam today (Dec 01, 2005) undertook a 90-minute long aerial survey of the flood-affected areas of Tiruchirappalli, Thanjavur, Perambalur, Nagapattinam and Cuddalore districts.

The President, who arrived here last night, was received by the PWD Minister O.Panneerselvam and others at the airport.

State ministers, Panneerselvam and Annavi accompanied him, in the aerial survey.

Meanwhile, city mayor, Charubala Thondaman said that the corporation had sought Rs.22.39 crore to repair the damage to roads, culverts, retaining walls etc, against the earlier demand for Rs.6.50 crore.
