Rai murder case: Ansari's brother-in-law surrenders

Ghazipur (UP): Independent MLA Mukhtar Ansari's brother-in-law Ejaz Ahmed Ansari today (Dec 1, 2005) surrendered in a court here after police registered an FIR against him and nine others, including the legislator, in connection with the murder of Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) MLA Krishnanand Rai.

Continuing their protest against the killing, BJP worker indulged in violence for the third day, setting on fire a police outpost in Sahninda area and outer cabin and signals at Tazpur-Dehma and Karimuddinpur railway stations on Ghazipur-Ballia section, besides some vehicles at Saraiya, police sources said here.

Ejaz Ahmed surrendered in the court of Chief Judicial Magistrate Pramod Kumar who remanded him to 14 days judicial custody.

Movement of vehicular traffic on Azamgarh-Ghazipur state highway at Dullahpur was also disrupted by BJP activists, they said.

One person, a victim of yesterday's (Nov 312,2005)violence at Reotipur village, died in the district hospital today, the sources said.
