Uma writes to members of BJP Parliamentary Board
Thursday, December 1 2005 11:31 Hrs (IST) - World Time -

New Delhi: Suspended Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader Uma Bharati has written a note to some members of the party's parliamentary board accusing general secretary Pramod Mahajan of ridiculing her in full glare of the media and harming the image of the party.

She said she was conveyed the 'undemocratic' decision of the nomination of Shivraj Singh Chouhan as Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister at the residence of Mahajan in Delhi in the presence of party general secretary Arun Jaitley.

The fiery sanyasin said she was 'hurt' by the decision and had met former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpaye and BJP chief L K Advani on the night of November 26. Bharti, in her note, said she was 'hurt' more by the manner in which the decision was conveyed to her than by the decision itself.

She said she told Jaitley, "you have committed a grave sin by conveying the decision (to me) at the residence of a person like Pramod Mahajan". "It was at Mahajan's residence that the decision was taken which was a grave injustice to the people of my state", Bharti said.

She charged it was because of Mahajan that Advani had last year publicly criticised her in front of the media.

She said she was surprised how her 'highly confidential' note to five members of the parliamentary board was leaked to Zee News. Among the five persons who were given the note were Advani, Jaitley and Sanjay Joshi, she claimed.
