Old criminal cases revived against Congress MP Friday, December 2 2005 15:35 Hrs (IST) - World Time -

Congress leader and Member of Parliament Adhir Chowdhury, who is in judicial custody in connection with a double murder case, was today (Dec 2,2005) produced before two Courts here for his alleged involvement in two other criminal cases of 1981 and 1985.
Chowdhury, remanded to judicial custody till December eight, was produced before Additional District Sessions Court judge Vivekananda Pramanik in connection with charge of an attempt to murder case in Berhampore in 1981 and before Additional District Sessions Court judge (Fast Track) N Roy for three murder cases here in 1985.
Hearing of these cases has been fixed on December 19, 20 and 21.
Elaborate security arrangements were made in and outside the Court premises, as Chowdhury was brought here from the jail.
Congress supporters raised slogans demanding Chowdhury's release and alleged that the Left Front Government had 'conspired' against him by reviving old charges.
