Bihar assembly adjourns twice amid chaos by oppn Friday, December 2 2005 15:57 Hrs (IST) - World Time -
Patna:
Bihar assembly was today adjourned twice amid noisy scenes as opposition Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) vociferously demanded sacking of two ministers, including Agriculture Minister Narendra Singh, who was involved in manhandling of a magistrate on the opening day of the inaugural session of the house on November 28.
Hardly had the house assembled for the day when RJD's deputy leader Shakeel Ahmed Khan sought dismissal of Agriculture Minister Narendra Singh and Minister of State for
Industries Gautam Singh, who was allegedly involved in a criminal case.
Khan was soon joined by other RJD MLAs who first stood in their seats and then trooped into the well in support of their demand.
Speaker Uday Narain Chaudhary asked the agitated members to resume their seats and allow the house to take up the motion o thanks to Governor's address to the joint sitting of
the two houses of the bicameral legislature yesterday (Dec 1,2005).
As angry RJD legislators shouted slogans provoking an equally strident slogan-shouting by the ruling benches, Speaker Chaudhary said these would not go on record.
The chair, in the meanwhile, permitted Sribhagwan Singh Janata Dal (JD) United (U) to move his motion of thanks to Governor's address but little was heard due to the din.
The Speaker told Khan that he would be given opportunity to raise the matter later but this failed to assuage the opposition RJD MLAs who kept on raising slogans.
As his requests did not bear any results, the Speaker adjourned the house for 30 minutes till noon.
