Croatia Aniel Matherani on his way back home: Govt
Friday, December 2 2005 19:38 Hrs (IST) - World Time -

New Delhi: Amid new revelations by India's Ambassador to Croatia Aniel Matherani in Volcker issue, government today (December 2, 2005) said the envoy had been "transferred back" and the process had begun to send a replacement.

Matherani has already been transferred back to India sometime ago and I have no doubt that he would be returning very soon, Foreign Secretary Shyam Saran said a press briefing here while responding to a question. He said an 'agreement' for appointing a replacement has already been sought from the Croatian government. The government has decided to appoint Rajiv Mishra, India's Deputy Permanent Representative to WTO, as the next Ambassador to Croatia. Mishra, a 1980-batch Indian Foreign Service (IFS) official, is currently based in Geneva.
