TN Chief Minister briefs Kalam about rain ravage

Chennai: The President Dr A P J Abdul Kalam was briefed by the Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Jayalalithaa on the damage caused in the state due to recent rains and floods.

Jayalalithaa made a power point presentation, in which she detailed the steps taken by her Government to mitigate the sufferings of the public affected by the rains.

She told Kalam that 22 districts were affected by three spells of unprecedented rains and infrastructure like roads and lakes suffered extensive damage, official sources said.

Kalam had made an aerial survey of the affected areas yesterday (Dec 2, 2005).

Tamil Nadu governor S S Barnala, state ministers O Pannerselvam, C Ponnaiyan, K Pandurangan and K P Anbazhagan were also present during the meeting, which lasted nearly 40 minutes, the sources said.
