'Remove Natwar from ministry, Sonia should resign'
Saturday, December 3 2005 17:31 Hrs (IST) - World Time -

Jaipur: "Considering Croatian Ambassador Aneil Matherani's sensational disclosure on the Iraq's oil-for-food programme, Congress President Sonia Gandhi should immediately resign owing responsibility for the corruption in the party," Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) President L K Advani said here today (Dec 3, 2005).

"After Matherani's allegations against Natwar of his involvement in the oil coupons scam, the United Progressive Alliance (UPA) Government and Congress party cannot deny the truth and has lost the right to disown the Volcker committee report as unverified," Advani told media persons after a party's women wing function here.

"I believe that Natwar should be removed forthwith from the UPA ministry and the same criteria be applied for Congress President Sonia Gandhi should quit from her post," Advani demanded.

"Now every one has agreed and is unanimous that there was corruption involved in the oil-for-food programme after the Volcker committee's report and yesterday's disclosures by Matherani in media," he said.

When asked to react on Uma Bharti's actions in Bhopal, the BJP President refused to comment.
