Uma observes silence, takes a break from march
Saturday, December 3 2005 17:08 Hrs (IST) - World Time -

Raisen (MP): After a series of outbursts against Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leadership, suspended party leader Uma Bharti today (Dec 3,2005) observed silence and took a break from her Bhopal- Ayodhya march launched to protest against the party 'imposing' Shivraj Singh Chouhan as Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister.

"Umaji, who is taking rest at Sadalatpur near here, is observing 'maunvrat' (silence) today. Her padyatra will be resumed tomorrow (Dec 4,2005)," sources close to her said.

The fiery sanyasin confined herself to her room at a farmhouse, about 10 km from here, and did not (not) interact with people till this afternoon, they said.

Bharti, who has been suspended from BJP for 'anti-party activity' and issued a show cause notice for her conduct during the process of leadership change in Madhya Pradesh, is slated to address a public meeting here tomorrow after resuming the march, the sources said.

Several of her supporters were camping in the area to make arrangements for the meeting and finalize further plans for the onward journey of the firebrand leader, who was greeted by a large gathering on arrival at Sadalatpur last evening for her overnight stay, they said.

While former state minister Sunil Nayak, a close confidant of Bharti, accompanied the Yatra which entered its fifth day today, former state Warehousing Corporation Chairman Sudhir Agarwal has been made in-charge of the march.
