'India's determination to move in WTO appreciated' Sunday, December 4 2005 10:30 Hrs (IST) - World Time -
Washington:
The United States has praised 'fresh signals of determination' from India and Brazil on their readiness to contribute to a major outcome in the WTO Doha Development Round.
"The United States applauds their engagement and commitment to move ahead in the core areas of agriculture and market openings for manufactured goods and services " USTR Spokesperon Christin Baker said in statement.
"It is particularly helpful given the current state of affairs in the negotiations and the need to create momentum in the negotiations overall, and in agriculture in particular"
she said.
"Having key players and Members of the G20 Agriculture Group such as India and Brazil state their willingness to engage and contribute to an ambitious result will help the
preparations for the upcoming Hong Kong ministerial and the longer-term goal of completing these negotiations by the end of 2006," the USTR has said in a statement.
