Prime Minister Manmohan Singh today (Dec 04, 2005) said he would consider what to do if Natwar Singh, in the thick of Iraqi oil payoff scam, decided to quit from the union cabinet on his own and dismissed suggestions that he had differences with Congress chief Sonia Gandhi on Volcker issue.
"If such a situation arises, we will consider what to do", Singh told reporters asked if Natwar Singh decided to step down on his own.
To a question whether he had any difference of opinion with Congress President Sonia Gandhi and Natwar Singh on the issue of Volcker report, he categorically said "there is no difference of opinion".
About his 40-minute meeting with Natwar Singh yesterday in Delhi, he said, "Natwar Singh is a colleague of mine" and they discussed various issues which have been happening in the past couple of weeks.
On BJP demand for the resignation of Sonia Gandhi as Chairperson of National Advisory Council, Singh said, "BJP itself knows that there is no substance in what they are saying in Parliament. I do not attach great importance to it".
